About BBC Studios

BBC Studios is a globally recognised media business built from the BBC. It creates and distributes highly valued television, audio and digital content for audiences worldwide, with a goal of being the place where powerful, entertaining and inspiring stories are made and shared.

BBC Extend programme

This vacancy is part of BBC Extend, a hiring programme for disabled people. To be eligible, applicants must identify as deaf, disabled or neurodivergent and meet the legal definition of disability under the Equality Act 2010, or under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 in Northern Ireland. This includes both visible and non-visible conditions and impairments, as well as medical conditions such as cancer, HIV or multiple sclerosis.

The BBC aims to make the application process as accessible as possible. Candidates who need adjustments or have questions about the Extend programme can contact extend@bbc.co.uk. BBC Access and Disability Service is available to support workplace adjustments and assessments throughout employment if the candidate is successful.

Role purpose

As part of BBC StoryWorks, you will help deliver social campaigns that strengthen commercial storytelling. The role focuses on producing engaging content, supporting both paid and organic social activity, and making sure all output meets BBC quality standards. Your work will contribute to audience growth, campaign performance, and premium social experiences for partners.

What the team offers

You will join a collaborative and inventive team that values creativity, innovation and strong storytelling. The role offers exposure to international campaigns, the chance to experiment with new content formats, and the opportunity to develop both strategic and creative capability while working alongside specialists across BBC Studios.

Key responsibilities

  • Support paid and organic social activity across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and other relevant channels for global StoryWorks campaigns.
  • Create polished social visuals and written copy that align with BBC standards and wider advertising expectations.
  • Contribute ideas for social strategy and implement platform-specific content promotion approaches.
  • Protect editorial and production quality across all commercial social output.
  • Investigate and resolve issues by working with internal stakeholders to keep campaign delivery running smoothly.

Essential experience and skills

  • Practical experience in paid social, content production, community engagement and audience growth.
  • Strong written English, excellent grammar and a sharp eye for detail.
  • Ability to stay accurate and effective when working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Confidence in managing your own workload and communicating clearly with stakeholders.
  • Comfort using Google Docs and Microsoft Word, along with a genuine interest in media and storytelling.

Desirable experience

  • Knowledge of social media performance data and how to improve results through optimisation.
  • Basic design or video editing ability for social content.
  • Familiarity with social and advertising rules, including ASA/CAP guidance.
  • Experience in branded content, commercial storytelling or partnerships.
  • Ability to work effectively with production, editorial and marketing colleagues.

Additional information

Applications may close earlier than expected due to high interest, so early submission is encouraged. The job description outlines the main responsibilities and required capabilities, but it is not an exhaustive list of every duty associated with the role.

If an offer is made, BBC employment screening will apply and may include reference checks, verification of the right to work, and where relevant safeguarding and adverse media/social media checks. Any offer will depend on the outcome of these checks.

Before starting, candidates may need to declare any unspent convictions or police charges in line with recruitment policy so that support needs and risks can be assessed. Failure to disclose this information may lead to the offer being withdrawn.

The BBC does not accept CV-only applications. All applications must be submitted online.

BBC redeployment candidates who are seeking suitable alternative work may be given priority consideration ahead of other applicants, in line with BBC redeployment arrangements.
