Merry People is passionate about transforming gumboots into everyday footwear worldwide. Our signature boots come in vibrant colors, designed to keep feet comfortable, supported, and warm. We embrace outdoor adventures, the messy parts of life, and cherish small joyful moments throughout the day.

Founded in 2014 at weekend farmers markets, Merry People has grown independently over 12 years across Australia, the US, and the UK. We prioritize fun and journey enjoyment while staying true to our core values:

  • Authenticity: We commit to transparent communication, continuous improvement, and aligning our actions with our brand values.
  • Kindness: We treat everyone—including suppliers and customers—with respect and understanding.
  • Adventure: We welcome new experiences, pushing beyond comfort zones and exploring diverse paths.
  • Joy: Our aim is to inspire feelings of merriment, playfulness, and positivity through our brand.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Social Media & Content Manager on a 12-month maternity leave contract to lead our global organic social media presence across Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. You will translate the Head of Brand Marketing's strategy into content plans tailored for our Australian, US, and UK markets while managing and mentoring a Creative Content Assistant.

Note: This role requires flexibility in working hours to accommodate early calls with US colleagues and later meetings with the UK team on certain days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee management of organic social channels including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and potentially additional platforms.
  • Develop and implement global organic social media strategies aligned with marketing plans, ensuring seasonal and local relevance in collaboration with regional marketing managers.
  • Lead the entire content creation process from ideation, filming, editing, to scheduling for social channels.
  • Analyze performance metrics and monitor competitors to guide content strategy adjustments.
  • Coordinate with the Digital Content Producer to plan and manage influencer and creator collaborations for organic social media.
  • Direct and support the Creative Content Assistant by establishing clear goals, managing priorities, and fostering development across social and paid content.
  • Assist paid digital marketing teams by tailoring organic content for paid social ads when needed.
  • Manage brand and SEO blog content from start to finish.

Candidate Profile

  • More than five years’ experience managing brand social channels; e-commerce background is advantageous.
  • At least two years’ experience in blog content creation preferred.
  • Strong expertise in social media platforms, current trends, and best practices.
  • Proven track record in developing and executing social media strategies.
  • Experience in supervising direct reports is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Innovative thinker who initiates and delivers fresh, original ideas.
  • Highly collaborative with comfort working across multiple teams.
  • Adaptable and resilient, thriving in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented, eager to propose new ideas and opportunities.

Additional Information

The preferred start date is late July or early August to allow handover with the current Social Media & Content Manager.
