Position Overview
La Sierra University seeks imaginative and detail-focused student content creators to develop long-form YouTube videos that vividly showcase campus life, academic programs, and student stories. This opportunity focuses on producing polished video content intended to educate, motivate, and engage prospective students by illustrating what makes La Sierra University distinct.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce, edit, and publish long-form YouTube videos ranging from 5 to 15 minutes or longer.
- Create well-structured narratives with clear pacing and storytelling objectives.
- Generate diverse video content including day-in-the-life features, campus tours, student interviews, academic highlights, and event recaps.
- Align all output with the university’s branding and communication standards.
- Plan video concepts, outlines, scenes, and coordinate filming schedules across campus.
- Prepare interview questions and manage on-camera participants such as students, faculty, and staff to represent a variety of perspectives.
- Conduct high-quality on-site filming including lighting setups and capturing supplementary footage (b-roll) to enhance visual storytelling.
- Edit videos for clarity and viewer engagement with additions like music, graphics, captions, and transitions optimized for YouTube platforms.
- Attend key campus events for video coverage, sometimes requiring availability during evenings and weekends.
- Collaborate closely with marketing staff to shape content direction and participate in regular content review sessions with iterative improvements based on feedback and analytics.
Work Schedule and Expectations
- Commit up to 20 hours weekly with flexible timings compatible with academic demands.
- Produce at least two fully edited, approved long-form videos monthly, with a target output of four.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be an enrolled student at La Sierra University.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for video production, storytelling, or digital media.
- Previous experience in shooting and editing video content.
- Familiarity with YouTube content creation and optimization best practices.
- Capability to manage projects from conception through final delivery.
- Preferred but not required: experience with editing software such as Capcut, Adobe Premiere, or Final Cut, understanding of basic lighting, audio, and framing techniques; ability to conduct interviews and direct talent on camera.
