Role Overview

The Social Media and Digital Marketing Coordinator will be a key member of the Marketing and Communications team, focusing on social media management, content creation, copywriting, and digital campaign execution. This role suits a creative, organised, and resilient marketer who thrives on developing engaging content, managing diverse audiences, building email campaigns (EDMs), updating websites, and utilizing data insights to optimize performance.

The position demands sensitivity and maturity, as communications often encompass themes like service, injury, mental health, recovery, and family support. The successful candidate will be adept at handling delicate content and maintaining composure under shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, schedule, and publish tailored content across social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, and TikTok.
  • Manage daily community interactions and monitor social channels.
  • Stay current on social media trends, platform updates, and formats and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Handle organic and paid social campaigns as required.
  • Create and manage website and digital content in line with brand guidelines, including regular EDM creation and measurement.
  • Translate research findings and program outcomes into accessible digital storytelling.
  • Produce blogs, biographies, news pieces, and other written materials, ensuring stories involving veterans and families are treated with respect and consent.
  • Design simple branded graphics, templates, videos, and digital assets using Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar tools.
  • Coordinate content creation with internal teams, suppliers, and agencies.
  • Update and maintain website content via WordPress or similar CMS, applying basic SEO principles and recommending enhancements to improve user experience and accessibility.
  • Support fundraising efforts through compelling digital content aimed at donor engagement and conversion.
  • Monitor analytics, identify trends, and optimize digital campaigns using a test-and-learn approach across social media, email, and web channels.
  • Collaborate flexibly within a small team, managing multiple priorities with clear communication, sometimes requiring weekend or after-hours support and occasional travel with time off in lieu.
  • Assist the Marketing and Communications team with various other duties as necessary.

  • Timely and engaging delivery of accurate social media content.
  • Strong support and management of online communities.

  • Growth in engagement across social media, email, and website platforms.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 1–2 years’ experience in social media, digital marketing, communications, or content creation roles.
  • Proficient writing skills tailored for social media, EDMs, websites, and campaigns.
  • Competence in creating, scheduling, filming, and basic editing of video content for platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube.
  • Experience using design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite to produce branded assets.
  • Familiarity with EDM platforms like HubSpot for campaign building and measurement.
  • Experience with website updates using WordPress or similar CMS.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse internal teams and external stakeholders.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Background in not-for-profit, sport, health, fundraising, government, veteran, or purpose-driven organizations.
  • Experience with CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot) and basic audience segmentation.
  • Skills in photography, videography, or conducting interviews.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed, consent-based, or sensitive storytelling techniques.
