Social & Digital Media Specialist for Department of Defense

Position Overview

We are seeking a Social & Digital Media Specialist to manage the official online presence of a U.S. Navy client located in Honolulu, Hawaii. This full-time role is embedded onsite at a military installation on Oahu where you will develop and execute the digital media strategy, create diverse multimedia content, and engage with the audience across official channels while ensuring compliance with DoD and Navy guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement a comprehensive digital media plan for the Navy’s official social media platforms.
• Create multimedia deliverables including videos, graphics, written articles, and infographics to maintain an engaging content calendar.
• Oversee and manage official Facebook and Instagram accounts with real-time audience interaction through polls, contests, and live events.
• Utilize analytics tools to assess audience engagement and content effectiveness, providing monthly reports on performance metrics.
• Ensure all communications adhere strictly to Department of Defense and Navy public affairs as well as OPSEC policies.

Candidate Requirements

• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) through a favorable Tier 3 federal background investigation.
• Minimum 3 years of experience managing social media or digital content for an organization or brand, supported by a portfolio of previous published work.
• Proficiency in writing, video production, and graphic design with demonstrated capacity to independently manage content channels.
• Availability to work full-time onsite during regular Monday to Friday duty hours in Honolulu.

Preferred Qualifications

• Possession of a current CAC, active security clearance, or recent favorable federal background investigation, preferably with DoD affiliation.
• Training credentials such as Navy Mass Communication Specialist, Army/joint Public Affairs, or Defense Information School (DINFOS) qualification.
• Experience handling official military or government social media accounts.
• Strong connection to the military community, with veterans and military spouses encouraged to apply.
• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, social media analytics, and short-form video editing software required.

Additional Information

• This position is a full-time, on-site assignment located on Oahu.
• Salary range is $60,000 to $85,000 annually, supplemented with additional benefits.
• The role's commencement is anticipated for early fall 2026 and is contingent upon contract award.
