Team overview
The Explosive Ordnance Services (EOS) team supports the Australian Defence Force through storage, distribution, maintenance, and disposal of systems across Australia. The wider logistics services network includes more than 17 depots nationwide, creating meaningful opportunities for growth and progression.
Role summary
As the Site Supervisor at Fort Direction, South Arm, Tasmania, you will oversee daily depot activity, guide a team, and help maintain strong standards in safety, compliance, and operational performance. This position blends leadership, logistics, and Defence exposure while contributing to Australia’s sovereign capability.
You will set the tone for a safe and productive workplace, support your team in meeting operational goals, and help improve how the site performs day to day.
Key duties
- Oversee everyday depot operations, inventory work, and customer needs.
- Coach, support, and develop depot staff so safety and operational targets are met.
- Make sure activities align with Defence rules, company policies, and the Safety Management System.
- Handle site administration, reporting, corrective actions, and performance tracking.
- Keep the depot prepared, secure, and ready to respond to emergencies.
- Contribute to improvement initiatives that strengthen efficiency, safety, and service delivery.
Experience and qualifications
Applicants should bring leadership experience from logistics, warehousing, or Defence-related operations, along with a Diploma or higher qualification in Logistics, Business, or a similar field. Experience leading teams in operational, warehouse, or logistics environments is expected. Strong communication, leadership, and organisation skills are important. Experience in Defence, dangerous goods, or similarly regulated sectors is considered an advantage.

Clearance and pre-employment checks
Before employment is confirmed, shortlisted candidates must complete pre-employment police checks and, depending on the role, medical assessments. A Defence security clearance is required. Applicants must be Australian citizens and able to obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance. In some situations, a current foreign government clearance may be recognised by the Australian Government. Suitability may also be affected by nationality under the Defence Trade Controls Act.
