Job description
About the Role
Thales is seeking a Site Security Officer for its Berlin location to support the launch of a new, fully German-owned company unit focused on a trusted cloud environment. The role sits at the intersection of physical security, data center operations, compliance, and service provider coordination.
Thales is a global technology leader working across defense, aerospace, cybersecurity, and digital identity. In Germany, the company is building a locally operated and fully autonomous trusted cloud offering in partnership with Google Cloud, designed to meet stringent BSI requirements while keeping data under European jurisdiction. The initiative combines German and French security standards such as SecNumCloud, C5, and C3-A to deliver resilience and business continuity for customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and improve physical security controls across data center sites, including access control, CCTV monitoring, and intrusion detection systems.
- Coordinate external security vendors and ensure day-to-day compliance with established security procedures and policies.
- Monitor operational activities in the data center environment and provide support during security incidents and internal investigations.
- Work closely with internal teams, colocation partners, and service providers to implement and enforce security standards.
- Contribute to audits, compliance obligations, and security certifications, while preparing the required documentation and reports.
Required Profile
- Several years of experience in physical security, preferably in data centers, critical infrastructure, or security-sensitive IT environments.
- Strong practical knowledge of physical security systems such as access control, CCTV, and alarm solutions, including how to operate and optimize them.
- Proven experience managing service providers and security personnel, as well as building and enforcing security processes.
- Familiarity with compliance and security standards such as ISO 27001, SecNumCloud, HDS, or similar certification requirements.
- Excellent written and spoken German and English skills.
