Job description
About the Employer
Cargill has spent more than 150 years working to improve agriculture, with a focus on feeding the world safely and responsibly, lowering environmental impact, and supporting the communities where it operates. Safety is treated as the highest priority, and the organisation aims to maintain a zero-harm culture.
Employees join a varied and inclusive workplace with a global reach, working alongside experienced professionals on practical programs and approaches that support a more sustainable future.
Role Summary
This is a practical, site-based leadership position where you will oversee the day-to-day and weekly priorities of the site and guide onsite team members. The role requires ensuring staff are trained and competent across key operational areas such as harvest receivals, grain classification, stack construction, tarping, site cleanliness, grain outturn, road and rail activities, and general bunker operations. Work must be carried out safely while keeping quality and cost controls in focus.
The role includes a competitive salary package, performance incentive bonus, and additional benefits associated with working with local growers and a global business.
Key Accountabilities
- Carry out standard site operations in line with company policies and procedures covering employee safety, food and feed safety, and environmental requirements.
- Track production results, volumes, and quality levels to make sure customer and food safety standards are met.
- Operate within approved budget limits.
- Maintain a strong customer service focus.
- Implement operational plans across the site.
- Train, supervise, and coach casual workers on site.
- Handle additional tasks as required.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should bring experience working with plant operations, implements and attachments, tractors, telehandlers, bulk material conveying equipment, and small plant and hand tools. Experience in the grain industry or bulk material handling is considered an advantage.
A solid understanding of health and safety standards is essential, along with the ability and willingness to encourage a proactive safety culture and stop unsafe work when needed. The ideal person will be practical, hands-on, and comfortable solving problems.
A valid driver’s licence is required. Applicants must also be able to pass a National Police Clearance and a pre-employment medical assessment.
Training and certifications for any additional required tickets and licences will be provided.
Work Conditions
Although this is a salaried position, there is an expectation that you will work extra or flexible hours when required to meet customer needs.
What the Role Offers
- A competitive pay package with a performance incentive plan.
- Room for growth and career development.
- The chance to work with highly skilled colleagues and inspiring leaders.
- Job security with a global employer that values people.
- A supportive, inclusive workplace culture.
Equal Opportunity
The employer is an equal opportunity organisation, and all applications are handled in strict confidence.
