Role Overview
The SIM Engineer II will join our expanding SIM Engineering team, contributing to a broad portfolio of solutions and supporting a growing client base. The team focuses on SIM and eSIM Remote SIM Provisioning technologies, delivering high-tech projects with worldwide telecommunications reach across automotive, agriculture, and transport sectors. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining connectivity solutions, managing complex SIM/eSIM technology ecosystems, card logistics, and supporting global customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, validate, and maintain electrical profiles for SIM and eSIM products.
- Develop Java Card applets compliant with 3GPP, ETSI, and GSMA standards for SIM/eSIM services.
- Create and update technical documentation such as specifications, API descriptions, and test plans.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including mobile core network, security groups, IoT device manufacturers, and smart card providers.
- Develop, test, and maintain SIM-based applications and integration tools within the SIM/eSIM ecosystem.
- Support peer review processes for electrical test data and reports to foster technical growth within the team.
Opportunities and Benefits
This position offers comprehensive exposure to the full SIM/eSIM lifecycle including ordering, provisioning, Over-the-Air (OTA) infrastructure management, Remote SIM Provisioning (RSP) for M2M and IoT, and device-network interaction. You'll work alongside experienced engineers on cutting-edge M2M and IoT eSIM innovations within a collaborative, small team environment, gaining diverse technical expertise.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technological field.
- 3 to 6 years of relevant experience in technology roles, ideally within telecoms; up to 3 years focused on SIM/eSIM/OTA R&D engineering.
- Proficient in Remote SIM Provisioning technologies such as GSMA SGP.02, SGP.22, and SGP.32.
- Strong understanding of SIM/eSIM architectures and protocols including APDU and ISO 7816.
- Familiarity with 3GPP and ETSI standards relevant to SIMs, e.g., TS 31.102 and TS 102.221.
- Experience using smart card test and trace tools like Comprion.
- Good knowledge of secure coding principles and cryptographic protocols.
- Competence with version control tools (e.g., Git) and software development utilities.
- Understanding of SIM operating systems such as MULTOS and native SIM OS secure elements.
- Experience collaborating with mobile network operators (MNOs), handset OEMs, and understanding of network elements like HSS, OTA platforms, and test SIMs.
- Skills with APIs (Postman), and programming languages including Java, C#, SQL, and scripting.
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting platforms such as DataDog and Zabbix.
- Analytical mindset with a proactive and open approach to problem-solving.
- Quick learner with strong focus on quality and accountability.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Atlassian collaboration tools such as Confluence and Jira.
- Working knowledge of Kanban methodologies.

Additional Information
New employees must work onsite full-time for the initial six-month probation period to integrate with the team and company culture. Post-probation, flexible working arrangements including up to eight remote workdays monthly may be available contingent on business requirements and performance.
