Overview
We are seeking a Ship HSE and Incident Officer to join a leading international energy company in Qatar. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to supporting LNG shipping operations by managing maritime health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) governance, coordinating incident responses, and enhancing operational resilience across an international fleet of LNG vessels.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and update procedures for LNG shipping incident response and emergency management.
- Act as the primary liaison for incident reporting and maintain communications with relevant stakeholders during LNG ship incidents.
- Provide support and coordination for incident responses during marine emergencies and operational disruptions.
- Organize and coordinate emergency mobilization exercises, drills, and response simulations involving ship operators and internal teams.
- Continuously monitor global maritime security risks and deliver prompt operational updates to stakeholders.
- Contribute to shipping risk assessments and implement mitigation plans following the organization’s enterprise risk management framework.
- Assist in external HSSE audits and participate in initiatives aimed at continuous operational improvements.
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of a Class 1 Certificate of Competency (e.g., Master Mariner or Chief Engineer) or a degree in Marine, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in LNG shipping, marine operations, HSSE, maritime security, or incident management contexts.
- Strong knowledge of marine HSSE standards and operational risk management principles.
- Experience with incident response systems is preferred.
- Capability to remain composed and make sound decisions under pressure in operational challenges.
- Excellent communication skills with proficiency in engaging stakeholders effectively.
- Willingness to adopt a flexible schedule, including supporting incidents outside regular working hours when necessary.
