Role Overview

As a Shift Supervisor at Starbucks, you will collaborate closely with the store manager to oversee store operations during assigned shifts. You will lead the team by delegating tasks and managing partners to deliver an exceptional Starbucks Experience, emphasizing promptness, quality products, and a pleasant store setting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Exemplify Starbucks values with integrity, honesty, and knowledge, fostering the company culture and mission.
  • Maintain composure during busy or unusual situations to ensure smooth store operation and set a positive example.
  • Proactively assess the environment and customer cues to anticipate both guest and store needs.
  • Relay critical information to the store manager so the team can maintain the "Third Place" ambiance each shift.
  • Support new partner onboarding by reinforcing positive behavior and delivering constructive coaching.
  • Provide feedback to management on partner performance throughout shifts.
  • Recognize shifts in team morale or partner performance and communicate changes to store management.
  • Foster a supportive learning atmosphere by delivering clear, timely, and respectful coaching to partners to promote operational excellence.
  • Offer legendary customer service with a customer-first mindset, actively engaging with guests to fulfill their needs.
  • Build strong relationships with shift team members by understanding and addressing their motivations and concerns.
  • Manage opening and closing duties as assigned and execute daily store operations.
  • Ensure compliance with Starbucks policies regarding cash handling, safety, and security to protect all partners during shifts.
  • Oversee cash register procedures and encourage proper cash management practices among the shift team.
  • Monitor baristas during shifts to maintain consistent and outstanding customer service.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for beverage and food preparation.
  • Celebrate individual and team successes using established recognition tools and collaborate with store managers to develop innovative appreciation methods.
  • Utilize operational resources effectively to maintain excellence throughout each shift.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Previous customer service experience in retail or food service settings.
  • Ability to lead and direct team members effectively.
  • Quick learning aptitude and strong communication skills.
  • Familiarity with retail environments and teamwork dynamics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
