About the Role
As a Shift Supervisor at Starbucks, you will support the store manager in overseeing daily store functions during your shifts. Leading the team, your responsibility will be to delegate tasks and manage partners to deliver the Starbucks Experience through exceptional customer service, timely delivery of quality beverages and products, and upkeep of a clean, welcoming store environment. You will embody Starbucks' core principles and values and be part of a workplace consistently recognized as an excellent employer.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Act with integrity, honesty, and uphold the culture, values, and mission of Starbucks.
- Maintain composure during busy or unusual situations to ensure smooth store operations and set a positive example for your shift team.
- Constantly assess the store environment and customers to anticipate needs.
- Keep the manager informed to facilitate timely responses that foster the "Third Place" environment.
- Support new partner training through positive reinforcement and compassionate coaching.
- Provide constructive feedback on partner performance during your shift to the manager.
- Enhance team morale by identifying changes in partner attitude or performance and communicating them accordingly.
- Create a positive learning environment by delivering clear, respectful, and timely coaching to maintain operational excellence.
- Provide legendary customer service with a customer-first mindset and build rapport with customers.
- Identify and respond to the needs of customers effectively.
- Develop strong relationships within your shift team, understanding and addressing individual motivations and concerns.
- Manage store operations during assigned shifts including organizing opening and closing tasks.
- Adhere strictly to operational policies, cash handling protocols, safety, and security standards to ensure partner safety.
- Ensure proper cash management procedures are followed by all members of your shift team.
- Monitor and support baristas to maintain high-quality customer service during the shift.
- Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Ensure preparation and presentation of beverages and food products follow company specifications and health standards.
- Comply with all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
- Recognize and celebrate individual and team successes through existing tools and collaborate with management for innovative recognition methods.
- Use operational tools effectively to achieve excellence during your shift.
Experience & Qualifications
- Background in customer service within retail or restaurant settings.
- Leadership ability with skills to direct and manage others.
- Quick learning capability paired with effective verbal communication.
- Understanding of retail environments and strong interpersonal abilities.
- Teamwork oriented with a collaborative spirit.
