Job Overview

O'Brien Fine Foods' Technical team plays a crucial role in guaranteeing the production of superior and safe food products that comply with all relevant Food Processing legislation and regulations. This team maintains and continuously improves a culture centered on Quality Assurance and Health and Safety, empowering all staff to take responsibility for these areas. As a Quality Officer, you will support these efforts across all stages of product development and production.

Work Schedule

This position operates on a rotating shift pattern of 4 days on followed by 4 days off, covering the full 7-day week with working hours from 6:00 am to 6:30 pm. This schedule includes weekends and public holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of raw material specifications for pork, beef, and white meat supplied to the facility.
  • Understand main production floor operations and pinpoint opportunities for process improvements.
  • Perform quality checks during production and address any issues directly with production operatives.
  • Execute traceability audits, document findings, and coordinate resolutions with floor teams.
  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to align with best practices observed on the production floor.
  • Assist with technical projects alongside the Quality team.
  • Carry out general administrative duties and assist in preparing necessary reports.
  • Support all aspects related to product quality, safety, and compliance from supplier inputs to customer delivery.
  • Maintain effective communications to foster strong working relationships with internal departments such as production, engineering, cleaning, processing, and new product development.
  • Participate in 'Lean' initiatives by engaging in a 'Just Do It' project to improve processes.
  • Contribute to quality audits by applying learned knowledge directly on the production floor.
  • Provide coverage for other Quality team members as needed.

Qualifications and Expectations

  • Fluent English communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Quality standards and Food Safety principles, including HACCP.
  • Ability to maintain performance under pressure with keen attention to detail.
  • Must possess own transportation due to site location in Timahoe, County Kildare.
  • Positive attitude, teamwork orientation, and a willingness to learn and develop professionally.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing work demands.
  • Strong planning, organizational skills, and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Proficient IT skills to support quality assurance documentation and reporting.
