Job description
Role overview
An experienced Service Locator is needed for a busy project in Plymouth. The role involves working on an active construction site to identify underground services before excavation begins, helping ensure the job is completed safely and in line with site controls.
Working pattern
- Monday to Friday
- 08:00 to 17:00
- 42.5 hours per week
- Start date in August
- Assignment expected to run for 12 months or longer
Key duties
- Detect and set out underground services using CAT & Genny and GPR equipment
- Prepare, issue, and oversee permits to dig
- Explain service locations and related safety information to site personnel
- Ensure all work follows safe working methods and permit conditions
- Maintain accurate site markings and update records as work progresses
Required experience and knowledge
- Previous utility locating experience, ideally at least 2 years
- Ability to use CAT & Genny and GPR scanning tools
- Working understanding of safe digging procedures, including HSG47
- Clear and effective communication skills for site coordination
- CSCS card
- BPSS clearance is required
