Job description
Role overview
The Service Employee supports the upkeep and fueling of school buses, activity buses, and commercial buses alongside the Maintenance Department. This role focuses on fuel dispensing, oil checks, maintaining accurate stick and meter readings, replenishing supplies and equipment, coordinating bus movement in the yard, and carrying out light maintenance work on buildings and grounds to help keep operations safe and on schedule.
Key duties
- Unlock the yard gates and inspect bus parking areas so vehicles can leave on time.
- Move buses as needed to prevent traffic congestion within the yard.
- Keep records up to date and complete the Bulk Fuel Receiving Report, Fuel Variance Report, Closing Month-end Report, and Meter Calibration Report.
- Inform the Location Manager or the designated contact when a fuel delivery is needed and make sure stick readings are taken accurately before and after each delivery.
- Inspect and top up oil, antifreeze, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, and belts on buses being fueled.
- Carry out minor interior and exterior maintenance on buses when required.
- Handle other duties or directions assigned by management.
