Job description
Role overview
The Service Employee keeps school buses, activity buses, and commercial buses ready for service by handling fuel, fluid checks, recordkeeping, and general support tasks in coordination with the maintenance team. The position also includes light upkeep work for buildings and grounds when needed.
Key duties
- Open the yard gates, inspect bus parking areas, and move vehicles as needed so buses can leave on schedule and yard traffic stays clear.
- Maintain detailed logs and complete the Bulk Fuel Receiving Report, Fuel Variance Report, Closing Month-end Report, and Meter Calibration Report.
- Inform the Location Manager or another designated person when fuel needs to be delivered, and verify stick readings before and after delivery.
- Top up and check essential bus fluids and components, including oil, antifreeze, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, and belts.
- Carry out minor interior and exterior maintenance on buses as required.
- Support additional tasks or instructions assigned by management.
