Role Overview

Join Agoda's Engineering department, the backbone of its machine learning and software initiatives. This team delivers powerful data and ML pipelines, operational databases, and analytical tools to support decision-making and improve user search experiences, processing vast amounts of structured and unstructured data daily.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering team to advance scalability, precision, speed, and quality of existing data and ML workflows.
• Analyze data insights to aid business decision-making.
• Design, develop, and test tools, libraries, pipelines, and platforms for Data Science and Business teams enabling rapid experiment deployment in production.
• Collaborate with engineers and product owners to automate large-scale data management, analytics, and ML processes.
• Take end-to-end ownership of systems enabling accelerated production launch of experiments.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 6 years in software engineering with at least 4 years in data or ML engineering.
• Proficiency in designing and maintaining robust data pipelines with emphasis on data quality.
• Expert-level knowledge of SQL, Python 3, and JVM languages such as Java or Scala.
• Strong grasp of software design principles including design patterns, functional, and object-oriented programming.
• Familiarity with technologies like Scala Spark, Hadoop, SQL databases, and S3 storage.
• Understanding of basic machine learning concepts (e.g., regularization, tree models) and statistical analysis (e.g., p-value, z-score).
• Analytical problem-solving skills with a data-driven engineering mindset.

Preferred Experience

• In-depth knowledge of Hadoop ecosystems and big data architectures.
• Hands-on Scala and Scala Spark development experience.
• Exposure to agile methodologies and test-driven development.
• Basic Linux system administration capabilities.
