Role Overview

The Senior Vice President, Operations leads the day-to-day and strategic functioning of a defined hospital region within the Oceans Acquisitions, Inc. portfolio. This role is accountable for guiding the region’s care philosophy, operational direction, financial results, strategic growth, and performance improvement efforts. The position is expected to introduce and implement practical, forward-looking ideas while keeping the needs of patients, customers, and the region in focus.

All work must align with Joint Commission standards, applicable federal and state regulations, Oceans Behavioral Mission, internal policies and procedures, and performance improvement requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the operations of the assigned hospital region so that physical and financial resources are used effectively in support of organizational growth and performance goals.
  • Support hospital administrators during the annual budgeting cycle and ensure financial targets are reflected in the budget.
  • Track staffing levels and infrastructure across hospitals to maintain adequate coverage, support retention efforts, and keep recruiting pipelines active.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a strong management team, including recruiting and retaining leadership positions that are currently unfilled and providing ongoing mentoring.
  • Oversee the performance of hospital leadership teams and administrators, with authority to hire, coach, and discipline direct reports in coordination with the Chief Operating Officer.
  • Confirm that hospital programs and services meet organizational expectations and support excellent patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and all regulatory requirements.
  • Build and sustain productive relationships with physicians to strengthen program quality and community visibility.
  • Work with the Regional VP of Operations to design and execute operational systems, processes, and staffing plans that support regional expansion.
  • Monitor financial and operational results at the home hospital to ensure continued performance against expectations.
  • Serve as Administrator when required.
  • Handle additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • A master’s degree is required, with the undergraduate or graduate background preferably in behavioral services, administration, or a related healthcare discipline.
  • At least 10 years of hospital leadership experience are required, including 1 to 2 years in multi-site or market-level oversight.
  • Strong leadership ability with excellent communication and interpersonal skills is necessary to encourage collaboration across departments and manage operational, human, and financial resources effectively.
  • The candidate should be able to understand the assets, tasks, and systems needed to support organizational objectives.
  • Knowledge of third-party payer expectations, along with the ability to work effectively with diverse employees and service consumers, is required.
  • The role demands current knowledge of state and federal rules, as well as Joint Commission standards.
  • Successful completion of CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral health de-escalation program is required.
  • The role is fast-paced, may be stressful, involves frequent interruptions, and requires the ability to handle heavy travel.
  • The work setting may include unpleasant odors, sights, and unpredictable patient behavior.
  • Most of the work is performed indoors, with exposure to weather protection but not always to temperature changes.

Work Environment

This position is subject to frequent interruptions and periodic pressure from multiple calls and inquiries. It can be demanding and high paced, and the individual must be able to function effectively in a mentally and physically challenging environment. The role may involve exposure to unpleasant sensory conditions and unpredictable patient behavior. Roughly 90% or more of the work is performed inside a building. Significant travel is required.

Additional Information

The position must be carried out in accordance with all applicable internal standards, performance improvement expectations, and regulatory obligations. Other duties and special projects may be assigned as business needs change.
