About the Role
A privately held, private equity-backed company is searching for an accomplished Senior Vice President of Human Resources to take charge of its HR function. Reporting directly to the CEO, this key executive will act as a strategic partner to senior leaders while actively managing operational HR activities.
Responsibilities
- Direct the overall HR strategy, daily operations, policies, and programs across the organization.
- Provide expert guidance to the CEO, executive team, and board on workforce and organizational issues.
- Establish and lead a formal learning and leadership development initiative.
- Enhance employee engagement, internal communication, retention rates, and company culture.
- Supervise compensation, benefits, payroll, performance management, and HR technology systems.
- Drive talent acquisition, succession planning, organizational structure, and change initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to employment laws across multiple states, with specialized knowledge of California regulations.
- Handle employee relations, conduct investigations, address performance challenges, and make employment decisions.
- Create and monitor meaningful HR metrics, reporting tools, budgets, and operational benchmarks.
- Lead a small HR team, balancing leadership duties with direct involvement in ongoing tasks.
Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in human resources.
- Wide-ranging expertise in employee relations, compensation, benefits, talent acquisition, payroll, compliance, and organizational growth.
- Proven track record managing HR operations within organizations spanning multiple states.
- Deep understanding of California employment laws and compliance requirements.
- Experience in developing effective learning, leadership development, or talent management programs.
- Ability to function both as a strategic advisor at the executive level and as a hands-on leader.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or professional HR certifications are advantageous.
- Exceptional executive presence along with strong judgment, discretion, and communication abilities.
