About the Role
The Senior Tax Specialist position at FedEx in Singapore offers an opportunity to provide expert tax advisory services across multiple Asia-Pacific markets including Japan, Korea, Guam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea. This role involves collaborating with tax leadership and various internal and external stakeholders to manage tax risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and advise on strategic tax matters to support business operations effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tax advisory services related to business transactions and operational initiatives across APAC.
- Identify and mitigate tax risks while ensuring adherence to relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Support business leaders with practical tax guidance aligned to company goals.
- Perform tax liability research and interpret local tax legislations to influence business decisions.
- Assist in managing tax audits, examinations, appeals, and regulatory inquiries.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate tax documentation as per compliance requirements.
- Develop and maintain tax policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Build relationships with external tax consultants and internal teams across Finance, Legal, and regional leadership to address tax issues.
- Champion tax planning initiatives to optimize tax positions while maintaining compliance.
- Monitor tax legislative changes and assess their impact on related markets.
- Seek process improvement opportunities in tax functions to enhance efficiency and controls.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related field; CPA or equivalent professional tax certification is preferred.
- Minimum of four years in accounting, financial, taxation, or advisory roles supporting multinational or regional operations.
- Strong expertise in tax regulation, research, compliance, and risk management.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities to interpret complex tax laws.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, able to clearly convey tax concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience collaborating within cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.
- Able to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities.
