Position Overview

The Senior Specialist in Strategic Sourcing will join the Corporate Direct Category Management team, operating remotely. The role involves supporting category management and strategic sourcing initiatives through comprehensive supply market research, supplier identification, managing RFx events, evaluating supplier bids, performing sourcing analytics, assisting negotiations, supporting contracts, and managing supplier relationships. This position collaborates cross-functionally with departments like engineering, operations, quality, production, finance, and legal to identify suppliers, assess market options, and optimize sourcing strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform supply market analysis and assist with supplier identification for designated categories and sourcing projects.
• Conduct market research assessing supplier capabilities, market conditions, competition, and new technologies.
• Manage the preparation, issuance, and administration of RFx events ensuring suppliers understand business and technical needs.
• Analyze supplier proposals including pricing, contract terms, and qualitative data; prepare evaluation materials for leadership.
• Provide reporting, data interpretation, and scenario modeling to guide supplier selection and sourcing decisions.
• Summarize bid data to reveal trends, risks, cost factors, and possible sourcing outcomes.
• Contribute to the formation and execution of category strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
• Apply sourcing techniques such as supplier rationalization, negotiations, make-versus-buy analysis, vendor-managed inventory, inventory reduction, and rebate opportunities.
• Utilize analytics and sourcing tools for price analysis, should-cost modeling, benchmarking, and eSourcing platforms.
• Evaluate supplier capacity, delivery times, and competitive positioning to support sourcing and supplier management.
• Assist in negotiations with strategic suppliers to maximize value for L3Harris and affiliates.
• Support contract creation and changes, including extensions and modifications, ensuring compliance and documentation standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to develop Statements of Work and supplier requirements as per engineering, production, and quality standards.
• Maintain supplier relationship management activities through analyzing performance, responsiveness, and strategic fit.
• Ensure adherence to sourcing timelines, alerting leadership to risks or delays as necessary.
• Maintain compliance with company sourcing policies, procedures, and documentation disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, or Operations with at least 6 years of related experience, or a Graduate degree with 4 years of experience; in absence of a degree, minimum 10 years of relevant experience.
• A minimum of 6 years’ experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supply chain, supplier management, contracts, or category management in complex environments.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Proven track record with RFx development and supplier communications.
• Expertise analyzing supplier bids, pricing, and contract proposals to guide sourcing decisions.
• Experience collaborating with engineering, operations, production, quality, finance, legal, and program teams.
• Strong analytical abilities with data interpretation skills to generate actionable insights.
• Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written forms.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet fast-paced deadlines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, data analytics, and eSourcing platforms.
• Background in Aerospace & Defense preferred, including familiarity with FAR/DFAR regulations.
• Self-driven with a commitment to continuous improvement and independent priority management.
• Experience in regulated industries such as aerospace, defense, or manufacturing.
• Capability to lead strategic sourcing across multiple locations or business units.
• Knowledge of supply market dynamics, should-cost modeling, price analysis, and sourcing scenario evaluations.
• Experience participating in supplier negotiations and contract management.
• Understanding of Statements of Work, supplier contract terms, and contract modification processes.
• Ability to evaluate suppliers’ manufacturing capacity, operational capabilities, and supply risks.
• Demonstrated skill in turning market and supplier analysis into actionable sourcing strategies.
• Experience in managing supplier relationships and evaluating performance metrics.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary ranges vary by location with $84,000-$156,000 in certain regions, and $73,000-$135,000 in others, subject to experience and geographic factors.
