Job description

About SÜDVERS

SÜDVERS is an international insurance broker and risk manager. As a family-owned business in its second generation, it serves companies of every size as a dependable partner. The company emphasizes trust, entrepreneurial thinking, and respectful, high-performing collaboration.

The organization is currently looking to hire a (Senior) Specialist Payroll (w/m/d) as soon as possible, ideally for the Au bei Freiburg location or alternatively Frankfurt. The position is full-time and permanent.

Payroll is being rebuilt from the ground up, with simpler processes, a new provider setup, and greater automation. The company is therefore seeking an experienced professional who can combine strong operational execution with a proactive mindset for improving processes.

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of preparing monthly payroll runs while ensuring compliance with legal, collective bargaining, and company-specific rules.
  • Maintain employee master data as well as absence, time, and attendance records.
  • Serve as a contact person for employees and managers on payroll-related matters such as taxes, social insurance, and retirement provisions.
  • Coordinate with public authorities, social insurance providers, and external partners, including reporting and certificate administration.
  • Ensure adherence to current tax, social security, and employment law requirements.
  • Support year-end closing activities and prepare analyses, reports, and statistical evaluations.
  • Contribute actively to the further development of payroll processes, especially around optimization, provider structure, and automation.

Requirements

  • Completed vocational training or comparable qualification in payroll administration, for example as a payroll specialist, tax clerk, or in a similar field.
  • Several years of hands-on experience in payroll.
  • Ability to work in a structured, independent, and dependable manner.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and excellent organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and resilience in a dynamic work environment.
  • Confident use of Microsoft 365 applications such as Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Experience with common payroll systems such as HRworks, DATEV, Personio, or equivalent tools.
  • Very good German language skills, at least C1 level.

Perks

  • Room to shape the role rather than only handling routine administration.
  • Join a company undergoing change with a clear ambition for improvement.
  • Flexible working hours and the option to work remotely from time to time.
  • Attractive additional benefits and opportunities for professional development.
