The organization is currently looking to hire a (Senior) Specialist Payroll (w/m/d) as soon as possible, ideally for the Au bei Freiburg location or alternatively Frankfurt. The position is full-time and permanent.
Payroll is being rebuilt from the ground up, with simpler processes, a new provider setup, and greater automation. The company is therefore seeking an experienced professional who can combine strong operational execution with a proactive mindset for improving processes.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of preparing monthly payroll runs while ensuring compliance with legal, collective bargaining, and company-specific rules.
- Maintain employee master data as well as absence, time, and attendance records.
- Serve as a contact person for employees and managers on payroll-related matters such as taxes, social insurance, and retirement provisions.
- Coordinate with public authorities, social insurance providers, and external partners, including reporting and certificate administration.
- Ensure adherence to current tax, social security, and employment law requirements.
- Support year-end closing activities and prepare analyses, reports, and statistical evaluations.
- Contribute actively to the further development of payroll processes, especially around optimization, provider structure, and automation.
Requirements
- Completed vocational training or comparable qualification in payroll administration, for example as a payroll specialist, tax clerk, or in a similar field.
- Several years of hands-on experience in payroll.
- Ability to work in a structured, independent, and dependable manner.
- Strong sense of responsibility and excellent organizational skills.
- Flexibility and resilience in a dynamic work environment.
- Confident use of Microsoft 365 applications such as Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Experience with common payroll systems such as HRworks, DATEV, Personio, or equivalent tools.
- Very good German language skills, at least C1 level.
