Senior SAP Functional HCM and Payroll Consultant

Overview

Maddisoft Solutions, a technology consulting firm established in 2004 with over 25 years of collective expertise in IT, invites applications for an experienced Senior SAP Functional HCM/Payroll Consultant. This opportunity entails leading and managing SAP HCM and Payroll projects, including implementations, upgrades, and ongoing support, to help organizations modernize enterprise processes using advanced technology.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead functional design, configuration, and deployment of SAP HCM and Payroll solutions across various project phases.
• Gather and analyze business requirements, translating them into detailed functional specifications.
• Configure SAP modules such as Personnel Administration, Organizational Management, Payroll, Time Management, Benefits, and Personnel Development.
• Develop and maintain payroll schemas, wage types, payroll rules (PCRs), and functions.
• Support comprehensive payroll activities including simulation, validation, reconciliation, and post-payroll processes.
• Manage payroll configurations like control records, areas, periods, retroactive accounting, off-cycle payroll, garnishments, and tax handling.
• Collaborate with HR, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, and compliance teams to ensure seamless operations.
• Perform impact assessments for statutory and legislative payroll updates.
• Prepare functional specifications for custom developments and coordinate with ABAP developers on enhancements, reports, interfaces, forms, and conversions.
• Support integration efforts between SAP HCM and systems like SAP FI/CO, SuccessFactors Employee Central, third-party payroll providers, tax engines, time systems, and banking interfaces.
• Conduct multiple levels of testing: unit, integration, user acceptance (UAT), and payroll parallel testing.
• Assist with year-end payroll activities including W-2 processing for US Payroll.
• Provide production support resolving payroll issues within defined service level agreements.
• Participate in data migration and validate payroll data accuracy.
• Document configurations, business processes, training materials, and knowledge transfer content.
• Mentor junior consultants and engage in project governance activities.

Required Expertise

• Hands-on expertise with SAP HCM and Payroll modules, including Personnel Administration, Organizational Management, Time Management, Benefits, and Personnel Development.
• Thorough knowledge of payroll components such as schemas, rules (PCR), wage types, functions, clusters, retroactive accounting, off-cycle payroll, payroll control records, evaluation paths, dynamic actions, and infotypes.
• Proven experience in US payroll processing including validation, reconciliation, tax processing, garnishments, direct deposit, benefits deductions, retro payroll, year-end processing, and auditing.
• Solid experience integrating SAP HCM with SAP FI, CO, SuccessFactors Employee Central, third-party payroll systems, banking interfaces, and time systems using ALE/IDocs, BAPIs, and web services.
• Strong background in SAP ECC HCM and/or SAP S/4HANA HCM compatibility packs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
• At least 8 to 15 years of functional experience in SAP HCM.
• A minimum of 5 years implementing SAP Payroll solutions.
• Multiple comprehensive, end-to-end SAP HCM implementations successfully completed.
• Experience with SAP SuccessFactors integration is advantageous.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience integrating SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central.
• Working knowledge of SAP HCM Payroll Control Center (PCC) and Employee Central Payroll (ECP).
• Familiarity with SAP Fiori applications for HCM.
• Practical experience with SAP Activate methodology and Agile/Scrum project frameworks.
• Possession of relevant SAP certifications in HCM or Payroll modules.
