The SCTU is a Cancer Research UK core-funded, UKCRC registered trials unit dedicated to supporting researchers both within the UK and internationally. The unit plays a pivotal role in designing, conducting, analysing, and disseminating clinical trials and observational studies focused on critical clinical and healthcare social questions.

Role Summary

We are seeking a senior medical statistician to cover maternity leave. This role entails responsibility for the urological cancer trial portfolio, which includes two major phase 3 trials focusing on bladder and prostate cancer. The role expects collaboration with junior statisticians and statistical programmers to ensure timely delivery of trial reports.

Additional responsibilities include planning workloads, liaising with the Head of Group in Statistics, leading communication on methodological matters with chief investigators and the wider trial teams, and broadly supporting SCTU in delivering the assigned trials.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess substantial knowledge of statistical methodologies applicable to cancer trials and the research process including funding acquisition and dissemination of results. Proficiency in statistical software such as Stata, SAS, and/or R is essential. Experience working within regulated environments and multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to meet deadlines across multiple complex projects, is required.

Employment Details

This fixed-term position is available as full-time or part-time (minimum 0.6 FTE) until July 2, 2027, to cover maternity leave. The role is onsite at the University of Southampton.
