About the Company
Aethon Therapeutics, founded in 2023 and based in New York City, is developing a new immuno-oncology approach focused on generating MHC-restricted neoantigens on cancer cells and directing them with T cell-engaging multispecific antibodies. Its proprietary HapImmune™ platform combines antibody-based immunotherapy with small molecule targeted therapy to broaden treatment possibilities for people with cancer.
Role Overview
The company is looking for a driven Research Associate or Senior Research Associate to contribute to a multidisciplinary R&D environment. This position offers the chance to help design and build novel molecules, research tools, and assay systems that support cancer immunotherapy programs. The right candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-moving startup setting, collaborating across teams, and producing reliable data under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Help create and roll out new research tools, engineered cell lines, and cell-based assays using molecular biology and biochemical methods.
- Independently culture mammalian cells and run assays such as flow cytometry, viability testing, dose-response experiments, and immune cell function studies.
- Modify and analyze cell lines using transfection or lentiviral delivery to aid target identification, validation, and assay creation.
- Share experimental plans and findings with project teams, keep detailed electronic lab notebook records, and support day-to-day lab operations.
Qualifications and Experience
Ideal candidates hold a B.S. or M.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Immunology, or a closely related discipline. The role calls for 1–3 years of experience gained through industry, co-op, internship, or academic lab work. Applicants should be confident with routine mammalian cell culture tasks, including thawing, expansion, freezing, vector design, cloning, sequencing, transfection, and viral transduction. Practical exposure to flow cytometry, cell viability assays, qPCR, ELISA, protein analysis, and handling DNA, RNA, and proteins is expected. Experience with immune cell culture, T cell assays, cancer biology, cell sorting, Incucyte analysis, or mass spectrometry would be advantageous. Strong scientific data analysis skills using tools such as Excel, GraphPad Prism, and FlowJo are also important.
