You will be responsible for managing resources, engaging with the community, improving services and supporting a broad range of stakeholders, including court users and members of the public. Please refer to the role profile for the complete account of duties.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the registry and courthouse operation in a way that promotes a supportive, connected and productive workplace.
- Ensure services are delivered in a trauma-informed, compassionate and culturally responsive manner that aligns with CSQ's strategic direction.
- Identify and manage risks related to Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence and court-user anti-social behaviour, with a strong focus on safety for staff and all court users, including appropriate information-sharing decisions with internal and external parties.
- Drive the adoption of updated policies and procedures, with an emphasis on consistent, practical and innovative reforms across courts and the wider region.
- Develop initiatives that improve public understanding of the justice system and support organisational goals, especially for court users from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- Build and maintain professional, respectful and confidential working relationships with judiciary members, their staff, government agencies, self-represented litigants and the public.
- Oversee financial, people, data and risk management activities to maintain efficiency and accountability.
- Put in place strong workforce planning, performance management, mentoring and staff development practices to meet CSQ operational and strategic priorities.
- Prepare high-level reports and analyse operational data while ensuring data quality across court systems such as QWIC, Qcase and QCivil.
- Manage registry workloads and promote a culture of service excellence, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Perform statutory functions as required in the roles of Justice of the Peace, Clerk of the Court and Registrar, including compliance with legal obligations and making complex operational or quasi-judicial decisions within legislative and governance frameworks.
- Represent the department in committees and meetings and communicate CSQ views as needed.
- Ensure proper record management for Queensland Court Services, including retention, archiving and disposal, using resources appropriately.
- Complete any other reasonable duties assigned by supervisory or management staff in line with organisational standards.
