About the Role

At HEB Construction, we are engaged in some of New Zealand's most challenging and impactful infrastructure developments. As our project portfolio expands, we invite a seasoned Senior Project Engineer to join our Invercargill team, playing a pivotal role in the delivery of significant heavy civil and Three Waters projects. This position offers the chance to collaborate with leading industry experts on initiatives that create a lasting community legacy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and coordination for engineering efforts across project delivery teams.
  • Formulate and oversee construction methodologies, prepare work packages, and manage temporary works specifications.
  • Track progress, control costs, ensure productivity, and maintain schedule adherence for projects.
  • Supervise subcontractors and suppliers to fulfill project goals effectively.
  • Recognize and address technical, commercial, and operational risks to safeguard project success.
  • Enforce adherence to contractual obligations along with quality, environmental, and safety standards.
  • Assist with project planning, procurement, and resource distribution processes.
  • Mentor and advance the skills of junior engineers and graduate team members.
  • Foster and sustain robust relationships with clients, consultants, and primary stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in delivering civil infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in heavy civil construction including earthworks and roadworks.
  • Substantial experience in delivering Three Waters projects encompassing water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
  • Proven ability in managing project schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and technical delivery aspects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts and risk management techniques.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or an allied field is mandatory.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer accreditation or progression towards it is considered beneficial.
