Job description
About the role
This position is for a senior product leader who can build from the ground up, think in systems, and act with true ownership. The role goes beyond maintaining a roadmap — it requires shaping the roadmap, defining the category, and setting the direction for the product area.
You will lead the complete strategy and delivery for financial tools across the product portfolio. That includes building the product vision, creating the operating framework for adoption and retention, and identifying ways to use AI and automation in a purposeful way across the offering.
The position sits at the crossroads of product, engineering, analytics, data, business, and external financial partners. Success here depends on structured problem-solving, strong data skills, and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders at once.
Key ownership areas
- Create the vision and charter for financial tools across the portfolio.
- Spot unmet user needs in financial product usage and turn them into simple, useful, and repeatable experiences.
- Build systems that improve how financial tools are found, adopted, and retained within the wider product ecosystem.
- Partner with lending and banking collaborators to convert product needs into integrations and manage the product-side relationship.
AI and innovation
- Find practical opportunities to apply AI and machine learning across the product suite, including personalization, recommendations, operational efficiency, and improved servicing.
- Work with data science and engineering teams to move AI concepts from early testing into live products, supported by success measures and continuous feedback.
Product execution and data
- Run product sprints end to end by drafting clear user stories, setting acceptance criteria, prioritizing the backlog, and ensuring timely delivery with engineering.
- Write advanced SQL queries, create dashboards, and independently verify metrics instead of accepting them without scrutiny.
- Assess data quality, uncover gaps in pipelines, and coordinate with tech and analytics teams to resolve them.
- Bridge the needs of technology, business, design, analytics, and external partners by translating business goals into product requirements and technical limits into clear trade-offs.
What success looks like
You are expected to define a product area before solutioning begins, not simply optimize an existing funnel. The role gives full ownership of the financial tools charter, with responsibility for direction, trade-offs, and business impact at scale.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate brings at least 6 years of product management experience, including 3+ years in fintech or a fast-growing internet startup. They have previously defined or redefined a product charter, can work comfortably with AI opportunities, and are highly fluent in data analysis, SQL, dashboards, funnel performance, and cohort metrics.
Experience shipping consumer-facing D2C products with measurable gains in acquisition, engagement, and retention is important. The role also calls for comfort in ambiguity, the ability to operate without an existing playbook, and the ability to create one for others to follow.
Why this role stands out
This is not a role for someone simply inheriting an existing product and optimizing minor improvements. It is a chance to build a category, own the financial tools strategy, and help deliver meaningful products for users at scale.
