Job description

About the role

Affirm is focused on making credit more transparent and consumer-friendly, helping people buy now and pay later without hidden charges or compounding interest. The company’s broader mission is to improve lives through honest financial products, and the team is expanding the core fintech backbone that supports scalable, compliant, and fast-moving product development.

In this role, you will join the Financial Platforms team and work on the backend financial systems and data infrastructure that sit at the center of the business. The focus is on building foundational platform capabilities that support critical financial workflows, enable reliable integrations across engineering, data, and business systems, and help the company launch new products efficiently.

This position calls for strong platform product judgment, comfort working with APIs and data systems, and the ability to partner closely with engineering and cross-functional teams. You will drive initiatives that strengthen reliability, scalability, and operational performance while also supporting business growth.

What you’ll do

  • Tackle unclear and complex platform challenges, shape execution approaches that balance near-term delivery with longer-term outcomes, and improve operations across important financial systems.
  • Set the strategy and roadmap for core platform capabilities, shared services, integrations, and the tools that support financial operations and reporting.
  • Work with Engineering and Data teams to define APIs, data agreements, platform boundaries, and migration plans that improve scalability, dependability, and ease of maintenance.
  • Take ownership of roadmap planning, translate objectives into requirements with engineering and cross-functional partners, and lead execution through product launch.
  • Communicate regularly with product, engineering, and other stakeholders, including senior leadership presentations and broader cross-functional updates.

What we’re looking for

  • At least 4 years of product management experience, ideally with platform products.
  • A strong analytical approach, with the ability to think strategically while also moving quickly and solving problems hands-on.
  • A history of launching and managing products that created meaningful impact.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for working with varied stakeholder groups.
  • Confidence in taking incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous information and turning it into practical plans.
  • Strong technical judgment that supports detailed technical discussions and informed opinions.
  • Either equivalent practical experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Compensation and benefits

The role is in pay grade N and equity grade 6. New hires typically start at the beginning of the stated pay band. Compensation is designed to be transparent and is influenced by location, experience, and job-related skills.

The annual base salary range for Canada is $153,000 to $213,000. In addition to base pay, the total package may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and technology expenses, and benefits such as fully subsidized medical coverage plus dental and vision for you and your dependents.

Additional benefits include full premium coverage for health care, flexible spending wallets for technology, food, lifestyle needs, and family-forming expenses, competitive vacation and holiday time off, and an employee stock purchase plan that lets you buy Affirm shares at a discount.
