Role overview

The Senior Power System Planning Expert will contribute to advanced planning work for modern power systems, with a strong focus on renewable integration, battery storage, transmission investment planning, and grid reliability. The scope of the role also includes technical analysis, client communication, project leadership, and support to business development activities.

Key responsibilities

The exact scope will be aligned with the candidate’s background and discussed during interviews. Typical work may include the following:

  • Defining planning principles and approaches for power system studies.
  • Building, validating, and maintaining power system models.
  • Improving methods for planning grids with large-scale renewable energy and battery storage integration, changing demand patterns, and optimized transmission investment decisions.
  • Connecting technical and economic models to identify critical operating conditions.
  • Performing steady-state studies such as load flow, short-circuit analysis, and hosting capacity assessment.
  • Carrying out dynamic stability studies, including frequency, transient, and voltage stability analysis.
  • Supporting evaluation of grid reliability and security, including capacity calculation, balancing, and operational planning.
  • Preparing clear reports that communicate analysis results and recommendations.
  • Engaging with clients, presenting solutions convincingly, and discussing future development plans.
  • Guiding and supervising power system team members and their contribution to projects.
  • Managing consultancy assignments and ensuring delivery quality.
  • Assisting business development teams by spotting opportunities, building trusted client relationships, and contributing to proposals.
