Position Summary and Key Responsibilities
We are currently searching for a senior talent leader to lead executive talent evaluations and manage leadership recruitment across our portfolio companies, which span multiple industries. This role entails overseeing the entire executive hiring lifecycle, collaborating closely with Deal Teams, portfolio company leaders, co-sponsors, stakeholders, and external search firms to ensure high-quality recruitment outcomes.
- Evaluate CEOs and senior leadership teams before and after investments.
- Analyze talent alignment with business strategy, maturity, and value creation objectives, identifying gaps and proposing actionable solutions.
- Develop and define hiring requirements, role profiles, and candidate descriptions.
- Manage selection and coordination of external executive search firms.
- Lead the comprehensive search process, including candidate pipeline reviews, interview structuring, and final assessments.
- Conduct preliminary screenings to assess candidate skills, cultural fit, and execution capability.
- Deliver structured and objective feedback to relevant stakeholders.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to investment teams, portfolio leadership, and recruitment partners.
- Standardize and enhance executive hiring procedures, frameworks, and best practices throughout the portfolio.
- Ensure that all search activities are consistent, timely, and of high quality.
- Provide monthly updates on search progress to the Talent Committee co-chairs.
Candidate Qualifications
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in executive search, talent leadership, or human capital consulting.
- Proven track record of managing senior recruitment in complex or high-pressure settings.
- Experience in private equity environments or exposure is highly desirable.
- Exemplary capability in evaluating executive talent.
- Established relationships and expertise in managing search firms across boutique and second-tier agencies.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple simultaneous searches.
- Detail-oriented, process-driven, highly structured professional with a proactive approach.
- Strong executive presence coupled with outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Typical backgrounds include senior executive search leadership, Head of Talent or Talent Acquisition, or human capital advisory roles.
Performance Indicators
- Quality and success rate of executive appointments.
- Effectiveness and thoroughness of recruitment processes.
- Stakeholder satisfaction levels among deal teams and portfolio company leaders.
- Reduction in recruitment failures and repeat searches.
- Consistent application of talent assessment standards across the portfolio using the SMC Talent Management Framework.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary will be established according to the candidate’s skills, experience, and interview outcomes. Eligible employees may receive an annual discretionary bonus and other financial incentives.
