Senior Physiotherapist - Gait Laboratory

About the Role

The Oxford Gait Laboratory at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Senior Physiotherapist (Band 7) for a 24-month fixed term contract ending 31 March 2028. This part-time role involves working 18.75 hours per week, providing expert physiotherapy services as part of a national clinical gait analysis program that evaluates patient walking capabilities to recommend optimal surgical, therapeutic, and orthotic interventions.

The successful candidate will participate in 3D gait analysis including kinematics, kinetics, EMG, and foot pressure measurements, managing children with Cerebral Palsy as well as patients with neurological and orthopaedic conditions. They will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team comprising Orthopaedic Surgeons, Physiotherapists, Clinical Scientists, and Clinical Technologists.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized physiotherapy services for patients assessed in the Gait Laboratory.
• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and utilize advanced three-dimensional gait analysis technology to interpret complex data for multidisciplinary treatment planning.
• Exemplify expert clinical knowledge and reasoning in managing complex cases involving children and adults with Cerebral Palsy and other neurological or orthopaedic disorders.
• Serve as an expert advisor on Cerebral Palsy and related conditions, providing guidance to patients and healthcare professionals.
• Potentially participate in the orthopaedic weekend on-call rota roughly once every four months.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Experience in pediatrics and/or neuro-rehabilitation.
• Interest or experience in teaching and research activities.
• Familiarity with gait analysis technologies is desirable but not mandatory.
• Excellent time management, flexibility, autonomy, and strong team collaboration skills.
