Job description

About the Position

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is offering a fixed-term 12-month contract for a Trust Junior Doctor in Orthopaedics at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, commencing immediately. This role is within a team of surgeons led by consultants, focusing on comprehensive orthopaedic patient care across various sub-specialties such as Sarcoma, Spinal conditions, and Rehabilitation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide ward-based care for patients in orthopaedic sub-specialties, including Bone Infection Unit, Rehabilitation, and Spinal services.
  • Participate in daily ward rounds, patient admissions, and orthopaedic outpatient clinics (POAC).
  • Assist with operating theatre sessions, offering hands-on surgical experience.
  • Contribute to audit projects to improve clinical standards.
  • Work a duty emergency bleep rota involving a 1:14 full shift rotation covering core hours, late shifts, and night shifts.
  • Collaborate with foundation-tier doctors and senior registrars (SpR3-8) to share ward responsibilities effectively.

Candidate Requirements

  • Current full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) is mandatory.
  • Valid Advanced Life Support (ALS) or Immediate Life Support (ILS) certification required from commencement.
  • Willingness to adhere to local and national working hour monitoring protocols.
  • Flexibility to accommodate occasional emergency and on-call rota changes.
