Role Overview
At Thermo Fisher Scientific, a company dedicated to advancing global health, we are seeking a Senior Medical Writer to join our Publications and Scientific Communications team. This position involves crafting clear, concise, and scientifically accurate medical documents such as manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations aligned with industry standards and corporate guidelines. The role is fully remote, offering a collaborative environment within the Medical Writing and Healthcare Communications department.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, edit, and oversee the delivery of manuscripts, posters, abstracts, oral presentation slide decks, and review articles, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion with minimal supervision.
- Identify and address project management challenges including managing out-of-scope requests.
- Maintain compliance with quality assurance processes and adhere to industry regulations.
- Act as the primary team representative and lead contact for assigned projects.
- Contribute to or lead initiatives for enhancing internal processes.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven extensive experience authoring peer-reviewed medical publications.
- Familiarity with contract research organization (CRO) environments is preferred.
- Experience producing publication add-ons such as plain language summaries and video or graphical abstracts is beneficial.
- Knowledge in publication strategy and planning is an advantage.
- Exceptional scientific writing capabilities, strong project management skills, and proficient digital literacy.
- A bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of various therapeutic areas.
- Additional certifications like EMWA or CMPP are favorable.
- Ability to exercise sound professional judgment and independently resolve issues and inquiries.
- Capability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively while delegating tasks as needed.
- Experience meeting budget and timeline constraints, facilitating conflict resolution within teams and with clients.
Work Conditions
- This role is home based with 100% remote working.
- Some domestic and international travel may be occasionally required.
Work Schedule and Environment
- Standard working days from Monday to Friday.
- Work is conducted in office or home-based office settings.
