About the Role

This position is integral to Singapore’s initiatives in fostering racial and religious harmony via proactive community engagement. The role involves bringing together individuals from a wide range of backgrounds to cultivate understanding and build enduring relationships across ethnicities and faith groups.

The incumbent will design and organize events such as inter-faith dialogues and collaborative initiatives aimed at enhancing mutual respect and strengthening social cohesion within Singapore’s multicultural population.

Collaboration with grassroots movements, the Racial and Religious Harmony Circles, faith-based entities, and other community organizations is a key aspect, including managing national-level events that celebrate cultural diversity and shared values.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement targeted programs tailored to address the diverse needs of religious and community organizations.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with government agencies, community stakeholders, and private sectors to advance social unity.
  • Proactively engage faith groups and grassroots organizations to gather insights into their needs and goals.
  • Act as secretariat for the Racial and Religious Harmony Circles by coordinating activities and facilitating dialogue.
  • Oversee and enhance initiatives that promote racial harmony and inter-religious understanding.
  • Assess program effectiveness and adjust strategies to maximize impact.

Desired Competencies and Experience

  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and succinctly in writing.
  • Skillful identification and prioritization of stakeholders according to their influence and interest.
  • Capability to build and maintain productive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strategic alignment of partnership and engagement plans with policy objectives, with ability to adapt to evolving operational environments while managing risks.
  • Design and facilitate engagement activities effectively, including follow-up actions to consolidate outcomes.
  • Proficiency in leading discussions to achieve engagement goals, fostering a positive dialogue atmosphere.
  • Preferably 1 to 8 years of relevant experience in community-related projects.
  • Experience working with NGOs, voluntary welfare organizations, and government agencies is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced setting, including willingness to work weekends or outside normal hours when necessary.
  • Interest and passion for community building and relationship strengthening.
  • Good analytical skills including data and financial literacy.
