About the Role

Reporting to the VP of Finance, rag & bone seeks a Senior Manager for FP&A focusing on Gross Margin to lead the analytical efforts underpinning product cost insights across the organization. This pivotal position involves creating frameworks, processes, and reporting systems that clearly convey the factors influencing gross margin at both product and channel levels. The role collaborates directly with senior figures in merchandise planning, production and sourcing, logistics, and accounting, influencing how the company manages key financial drivers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and sustain reporting tools that provide leadership with clear, actionable insights into gross margin factors across products and sales channels.
  • Manage the standard cost evaluation process regularly by proposing updates, quantifying their profit and loss effects, and coordinating implementation with accounting.
  • Establish a structured method for monitoring seasonal development expenses throughout the product lifecycle, collaborating with production and sourcing to maintain data accuracy.
  • Lead the freight and tariff cost modeling in partnership with logistics, highlighting emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Convert gross margin analyses into strategic narratives with recommendations, including bridging gross margin variances and assessing cost risks for senior management discussions.
  • Identify and address weaknesses in the capture, flow, and use of cost data within systems, driving enhancements alongside cross-functional teams and accounting.

Required Qualifications

  • Solid experience with standard costing methodologies, including setting standards, calculating variances, and understanding P&L implications.
  • Substantial background in product cost analysis or gross margin analytics within consumer products or fashion/apparel sectors.
  • Proven ability to design and build financial models and reporting systems from the ground up.
  • Experience collaborating with merchandise planning, sourcing/production, and logistics to build cross-functional credibility.
  • More than 6 years of pertinent finance experience.
  • Expert-level Excel skills capable of independently managing complex financial models.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively present insights to senior leadership.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience with brands selling through both DTC and wholesale channels, understanding their impact on gross margin.
  • Knowledge of freight, duty, and tariff cost structures and implications of tariff fluctuations.
  • Familiarity with ERP platforms used in manufacturing or product-cost environments such as D365 or similar.
  • Exposure to business intelligence and data visualization tools like MicroStrategy or Power BI.
  • Interest in leveraging AI and experimenting with innovative tools to enhance analytical processes.

  • Embrace originality, authenticity, and inclusivity.
  • Encourage innovation and fearless problem solving.
  • Promote accountability and collaborative success.
  • Uphold high standards in product and personnel quality.
  • Maintain discipline and competitive drive to achieve goals.
