Job description

Role overview

Qatar Airways Group is hiring a Senior Manager, Compliance & Regulatory to own the design, rollout, and ongoing strengthening of the group-wide compliance framework. This position is responsible for making sure the organisation stays aligned with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies, and standards across key risk areas such as anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, sanctions and export controls, third-party due diligence, ethics, consumer rights, competition, and governance.

In this senior leadership position, you will help the business stay ahead of emerging regulatory issues, advise executive leaders on compliance risk, and make sure compliance work across the group is coordinated, practical, and aligned with the company’s risk appetite. The role also involves leading major investigations, overseeing compliance reviews and audits, and helping reduce legal, regulatory, and compliance exposure before issues escalate.

Key responsibilities

  • Direct the group-wide compliance programme and ensure it follows relevant laws, regulations, internal policies, and required standards.
  • Build, maintain, and monitor compliance frameworks, governance arrangements, and risk management initiatives.
  • Spot new or emerging compliance and regulatory risks and develop practical mitigation plans.
  • Create, refresh, and manage compliance policies, standards, procedures, and guidance documents.
  • Advise business teams on compliance and regulatory matters in a way that supports operational needs and best practice.
  • Embed compliance into business processes, commercial agreements, and everyday decision-making.
  • Lead internal compliance investigations involving misconduct, regulatory breaches, and concerns raised by third parties.
  • Work with regulators and government authorities when required.
  • Oversee compliance audits and assessments, and ensure findings are properly analysed and resolved.
  • Prepare clear, high-quality reports for senior leadership, the Board, and executive management.
  • Design and lead compliance training and awareness initiatives for employees across the group.
  • Encourage a culture built on ethics, integrity, and accountability.
  • Partner with functions such as Legal, IT, HR, Facilities, Security, and Risk to support coordinated compliance operations.
  • Support management of supplier and third-party compliance risk, including due diligence, sanctions, export controls, AML, and ABC requirements.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a compliance team to strengthen performance, capability, and service quality.
  • Set team priorities, track delivery, and continuously improve the department’s ways of working.

Candidate profile

Applicants should bring substantial specialised experience in compliance, regulatory, audit, or governance work rather than experience limited to pure legal advisory tasks. The role calls for someone who has managed compliance functions in large multinational or government-related organisations and has experience leading teams and complex compliance programmes. Experience in the aviation sector is preferred.

Required technical knowledge

The ideal candidate should have strong working knowledge of anti-bribery and anti-corruption controls, third-party due diligence, anti-money laundering, sanctions and export controls, compliance risk management, policy and standards development, regulatory engagement and advisory work, data protection and privacy, including GDPR, and the ability to run regulatory audits, compliance assessments, and investigative processes.

Skills and competencies

This role requires strong leadership, people development, stakeholder management, analytical thinking, communication, and report-writing ability. You should be comfortable influencing senior stakeholders in complex organisational settings, and be proactive, adaptable, and capable of managing several priorities in a fast-moving environment.
