Role Overview

The Senior Key Account Manager for Agriculture is responsible for leading the strategic direction and performance of a portfolio of key accounts within the agricultural sector. The position requires ownership of account strategy, aiming to meet sales volume and gross margin goals through strategic thinking, problem-solving, in-depth customer insights, global coordination, and cross-functional team alignment to achieve measurable customer and business results.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage strategic relationships with assigned key agricultural customers, acting as their main commercial contact.
  • Design and implement long-term account strategies that align with both customer objectives and the company's growth goals.
  • Employ structured problem-solving techniques to address challenges, performance issues, and competitive risks.
  • Engage effectively with diverse customer stakeholders including procurement, technical, R&D, regulatory, and commercial teams within complex organizations.
  • Develop strategies to enhance service quality, productivity, and profitability for both customers and the business.
  • Establish trusted partnerships that elevate the company beyond a supplier to a strategic solutions provider.
  • Coordinate account strategies and execution on a global scale, aligning regional teams to unified customer plans, priorities, and messaging.
  • Lead commercial negotiations encompassing pricing, contracts, and supply agreements.
  • Identify, prioritize, and convert opportunities spanning existing products, new applications, and innovation-driven solutions.
  • Maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities and provide accurate sales forecasting.
  • Adapt strategies proactively to guarantee delivery of sales results.
  • Advance technical collaboration with customer formulation teams, partnering with R&D, marketing, and business development for innovative solutions.
  • Identify unmet customer needs and convert these into trials, development projects, and technical opportunities.
  • Champion the introduction and adoption of new products and innovations within key accounts.
  • Assume full ownership of a sales territory, managing volume, revenue, and profit targets effectively.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer dynamics to refine account and territory strategies.
  • Lead and orchestrate internal cross-functional teams (technical, supply, marketing, finance) to deliver integrated solutions and timely project execution.
  • Resolve supply chain, delivery, or operational challenges impacting customers promptly.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8-10 years of sales experience with at least 6 years in key account management or strategic commercial roles.
  • Background in agricultural co-formulant sales is advantageous.
  • Proven expertise in contract negotiation, pricing, and establishing long-term commercial partnerships.
  • Successful track record managing complex multinational accounts and attaining sustained growth.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and negotiation capabilities.
  • Experienced in coordinating global and cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel 40-50% of the time.

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field preferred; a master’s degree is desirable.
