Role overview

The Senior IT Administrator will own and improve the internal IT setup, with a focus on reliable day-to-day operations, SaaS administration, access management, hardware provisioning, and user support. The role is intended for someone who enjoys practical execution and is ready to take on wider responsibility as the company scales.

This position is based in Hamburg and follows a hybrid working model, with expected office presence around two times per week depending on the work and collaboration required.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will manage core business tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, ClickUp, and other SaaS systems, keeping them secure, compliant, and operational. You will build and maintain identity and access processes, including SSO and MFA, and help ensure endpoint devices meet security and compliance expectations such as ISO 27001 or SOC 2.

You will also improve internal IT operations by automating workflows across SaaS platforms through APIs and orchestration tools such as Zapier, and by designing support processes that reduce manual effort while handling more complex escalations. Clear documentation will be part of the job, including internal guides, knowledge base content, and standard operating procedures.

Employee onboarding and offboarding will be part of your remit, including access setup, device provisioning, and deprovisioning. You will manage vendor relationships, negotiate software and hardware contracts, and support other teams in handling their own vendor relationships while keeping solutions aligned with the company’s systems and compliance standards.

The position also covers hardware strategy and lifecycle management. You will help define procurement and deployment processes, manage logistics partners for shipping and receiving equipment, maintain company devices through routine upgrades and maintenance, and keep an automated and accurate inventory of IT assets.

Team and working style

You will join a compact team of three within the engineering department, working closely with engineers rather than in isolation. The team is designed for autonomy, with direct ownership of its domain and no management layer between the work and decision-making.

Automation is central to the way the team works. Manual click-based processes are avoided where possible, and scripting or integrations are encouraged whenever they improve efficiency. The team also stays connected through game nights, knowledge-sharing sessions, and meetups.

What the team is looking for

The ideal candidate has worked in IT administration within a SaaS-heavy environment, preferably with Google Workspace, and is comfortable handling IAM, SSO, and MFA. Practical experience with macOS device administration and endpoint security is important, as is ownership of end-to-end onboarding and offboarding workflows.

You should also bring experience with vendor management and IT asset tracking across both hardware and software, along with familiarity with security and compliance environments. Exposure to ISO 27001 or SOC 2 is considered an advantage. Experience with automation, scripting, or API-based workflows is expected, and familiarity with tools such as HubSpot or ClickUp may be helpful.

Experience supporting remote-first hardware logistics and device provisioning is valuable, as is a track record of helping build or improve an IT function from the ground up. Strong written communication and structured documentation skills are essential. Candidates must be based in Hamburg, Germany.
