Job description
Role overview
Transport for NSW is seeking a Senior Inspector to join the Point to Point Transport Commissioner team in Wagga Wagga. This is a permanent full-time position focused on regulatory and compliance work across the point-to-point transport sector.
The role offers the chance to apply your strengths in communication, problem solving, empathy, and conflict resolution while helping keep the public passenger vehicle industry safe and compliant.
What you'll do
Working from Wagga Wagga as part of a team, you will carry out complex compliance activity to uphold relevant legislation in the point-to-point transport industry.
You will work alongside industry participants and partner enforcement agencies to plan and deliver compliance operations relating to public passenger vehicles with fewer than 12 passengers.
Although the role is centred in the Wagga Wagga region, you may also be required to travel across New South Wales for planned and short-notice inspections to ensure compliance with the Point to Point Transport (Taxis and Hire Vehicles) Act 2016.
Following training, Inspectors are authorised to issue penalty infringement notices and compliance notices.
You will lead a team of Inspectors and report to the Regional Inspections Manager, while working day-to-day with one other team member.
About you
You are likely to succeed in this role if you bring strong stakeholder engagement capability, clear communication, sound knowledge of legislation, and experience in regulatory or compliance environments.
We are looking for someone who can engage confidently with a wide range of stakeholders, including members of the public, drivers, and service providers ranging from sole traders to large multinational organisations.
You should be comfortable preparing high-quality, evidence-based reports that identify non-compliance and support practical recommendations.
Confidence, adaptability, sound judgement, the ability to think quickly, and strong conflict resolution skills are all important for this position.
Experience in a regulatory or compliance role, preferably within government or the transport sector, will be highly regarded.
About the organisation
Transport for NSW delivers a safe, connected, and efficient transport network for the people, communities, and industries of New South Wales.

They also work with agencies such as Transport for NSW and NSW Police to help protect passengers, drivers, the public, and the wider road network.
