Position Overview

The role of Senior Innovation Lead in Financial Product Innovation involves spearheading strategic product management, innovation initiatives, and lifecycle management within EDC's Financial Product & Innovation (FPI) team. This role requires expertise in financial product design, risk management, and collaboration with various stakeholders to develop impactful financial solutions aligned with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and utilize data-driven systems to monitor product suite performance, align products with business strategies, and conduct thorough reviews assessing product effectiveness and market fit.
  • Lead product innovation processes, including ideation, market research, prioritization, and validation of customer and partner needs.
  • Define product visions, strategies, and roadmaps ensuring consistency with EDC priorities and business portfolios.
  • Prepare strategic analyses, business cases, and decision support materials to guide investment and prioritization.
  • Collaborate with SMEs and cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement new or enhanced financial products considering user needs, financial impact, risk profiles, and operational readiness.
  • Manage pilot launches, product deployment activities, and governance compliance including risk assessments and approvals.
  • Embed corporate risk management frameworks into all stages of product lifecycle decisions and handle escalation of risks and dependencies.
  • Maintain product management tools and frameworks that meet corporate standards ensuring quality and audit readiness.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders including financial institutions, government bodies, and business partners to stay informed on market trends and foster collaboration.
  • Champion the voice of the customer throughout product development ensuring customer-centric outcomes.
  • Support leadership by mentoring team members, fostering accountability, and promoting continuous improvement within the product management function.

Candidate Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or a related discipline is required.
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in product management, development, innovation, solution delivery, or the financial services sector.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial products such as lending, insurance, guarantees, equity, and international trade finance.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and research abilities capable of transforming data into actionable recommendations.
  • Proven skills in stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, facilitation, and influencing senior and cross-functional teams.
  • A customer-focused approach to designing financial products that meet market and user needs within collaborative environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in both English and French.
  • Advanced degrees such as MBA, CPA, CFA, or other relevant professional certifications.
  • Certifications or experience in product management methodologies including Certified Product Manager, Agile Product Owner, or similar frameworks.
  • Background in financial services innovation, public sector, consultancy, fintech, or internationally oriented organizations.

Work Environment and Benefits

  • Permanent full-time position with hybrid working arrangements requiring 2 days in office per week, increasing to 3 days post-September 2026.
