Senior HSQE Advisor: North Munster

Role overview

Glanua is hiring a Senior HSQE Advisor to support health, safety, quality, environmental, and sustainability systems across projects in Munster. The role is based on work in Limerick (Hospital, Raheen) and Clare (Newmarket on Fergus), with the possibility of travel to other sites within Munster.

What the role involves

You will work alongside site teams to help deliver projects safely, keep risks under control, and strengthen a positive safety culture. The position combines site presence, compliance monitoring, documentation control, reporting, and practical support to project and site management.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the safe delivery of projects as part of a collaborative, one-team environment.
• Make sure site activities follow health, safety, environmental, and sustainability policies, procedures, and standards.
• Promote strong health and safety behaviours across the workforce.
• Stay up to date with legal requirements, regulations, and industry best practice relating to environmental, health, and safety matters.
• Maintain an active HSQE presence on construction and operational sites, ensuring controls, mitigation measures, and performance checks are in place.
• Support the development of site construction stage plans, traffic management plans, waste management arrangements, and related controls, then monitor implementation.
• Help ensure the company meets its responsibilities as PD, PC, and Contractor.
• Complete all required internal and external EHS reporting.
• Track hazards through weekly inspections and audits, including recording, analysing, following up actions, and feeding back through the online management system.
• Carry out accident and incident investigations with the project team and recommend corrective actions to management.
• Collect and review safety documents from clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Ensure subcontractors understand the company plan and provide project-specific safety statements before appointment.
• Review and update the plan as subcontractor information, design changes, work progress, incidents, or accidents require.
• Implement the plan and check that company staff and subcontractors are complying with it.
• Escalate any safety, health, or welfare concerns to the Contract Manager, Site Agent, or Foreman before leaving site.
• Advise site management on the suitability of safety provisions, safe methods of work, equipment safety, and validity of test certificates.
• Maintain all site safety records and documentation with the site team.
• Plan and deliver safety inductions and briefings for company and subcontractor personnel.
• Complete site inspections and prepare associated reports.
• Liaise with external stakeholders on HSQE matters.
• Support compliance with ISO 9001, 45001, and 14001 standards.
• Assess employee training needs, identify requirements before new projects begin, and raise training needs with the HSQE Manager.
• Carry out other duties as needed.

Knowledge, skills, and experience

• A minimum Level 7 qualification in Health and Safety, or higher, is required.
• Experience in a comparable role is preferred, though not essential.
• Strong working knowledge of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work legislation, regulations, and best practice.
• Current Safe Pass, Manual Handling certification, and First Aid certification are required.
• Temporary Works Co-Ordinator qualification is needed, along with experience in lifting operations.
• Confined space experience is an advantage.
• You should be able to influence others and drive improvements in safe working practice.
• Clear communication and strong attention to detail are important.
• Comfort using Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, plus confidence with mobile apps and other modern tools.
• A full driving licence is required.
