Job description

About the Role

South Australia Police seeks a Senior Freedom of Information (FOI) Officer to manage the effective provision of information requests under the Freedom of Information Act 1991. This role is based in Adelaide and involves assessing FOI applications, collaborating with stakeholders and agencies, developing FOI staff capabilities, and preparing detailed determinations within legal timeframes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess applications according to Sections 13 and 18 of the Freedom of Information Act.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders and external agencies to facilitate information release.
  • Develop and mentor FOI team members to enhance service delivery.
  • Draft complex FOI determinations complying with legislated deadlines.

Requirements

  • Must be currently eligible to work in Australia and successfully pass a criminal history check.
  • Ability to be assigned to alternative duties at a comparable remuneration level.
  • Preparedness to encounter sensitive and potentially distressing content as part of the role.
  • Participation in SAPOL’s iEngage program is mandatory.

Employment Details

This is a short-term full-time contract position for up to 12 months based in Adelaide. The salary range is between $92,122 and $102,456 annually (ASO5 level).
