Job description

Company Overview

American Bath Group (ABG) is a prominent North American manufacturer of bathware, serving residential remodeling, new construction, and commercial markets. With a portfolio of trusted brands and more than 50 facilities, ABG caters to various channels including retail, wholesale, commercial, and showroom customers.

Role Opportunity

ABG is establishing a dedicated commercial finance partnership for its Retail Sales division. As the Senior Financial Analyst, you will integrate financial planning and analysis (FP&A), sales forecasting, margin analysis, and business intelligence to support leadership in customer, product, pricing, and growth decisions. This role demands collaboration directly with commercial leaders, managing recurring sales reporting, refining processes, and translating transaction-level data into actionable insights. Immediate contributions will leverage advanced Excel skills, transitioning validated financial reports toward scalable Power BI solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Retail Sales leadership on pricing, customer insights, product, channel, and growth strategies.
  • Own sales forecasting, projection, planning inputs, scenario modeling, and variance analysis against plans.
  • Analyze revenue and gross margin drivers including pricing, volume, mix, costs, rebates, and freight impacts.
  • Develop profitability insights at customer, product, transaction, channel, and segment levels.
  • Design, produce, and maintain accurate, timely retail sales reporting with continuous improvements.
  • Reconstruct fragmented reports by establishing clear definitions, robust controls, documentation, and accountability.
  • Apply advanced Excel techniques for financial analysis and translate these into practical Power BI dashboards.
  • Communicate clear insights and challenge assumptions constructively with fact-based recommendations.
  • Integrate new divisions or data into standardized, repeatable reporting frameworks with governance.

Critical Milestones for Year One

  • Within 30–60 days: Map current retail reporting, data sources, owners, schedules, and stakeholder requirements across channels.
  • Within 90 days: Take reliable ownership of key retail sales, forecasting, and margin reports, establishing quality checks and reporting calendar.
  • By six months: Deliver a more comprehensive reporting structure and forecasting tools actively used by Retail Sales leadership.
  • By nine months: Incorporate additional divisions or datasets into unified reporting without parallel processes.
  • By year-end: Establish scalable reporting environment with governed metrics, reusable logic, and initial or planned Power BI dashboard deployment.

Challenges and Leadership Attributes

This role requires managing existing, partially complete reporting systems with distributed responsibilities and evolving Power BI capabilities. It demands simultaneous delivery of reliable insights and establishment of controls and trust for scale.

  • Resilient problem-solver who can repair and operate complex reporting systems under deadlines.
  • Embedded commercial partner focused on decision-oriented analysis with sales teams.
  • Financial translator capable of converting detailed data into actionable commercial insights.
  • Structured owner who ensures accountability through documentation and process controls.
  • Practical technologist proficient in Excel and Power BI to address finance and business challenges.
  • Constructive challenger who evaluates assumptions and communicates findings effectively.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Proven commercial finance or FP&A experience supporting retail, wholesale, or sales organizations with documented impact on decisions.
  • History of taking fragmented reporting to well-defined ownership, controls, cadence, and documentation.
  • Strong background in transaction-level profitability analyses influencing commercial actions.
  • Experience managing sales forecasting, plan creation, assumption development, scenario analysis, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Advanced expertise in Excel for modeling, analysis, reconciliation, reporting, and quality verification.
  • Competence in Power BI and transforming finance logic into usable dashboards.
  • Exceptional communication skills to simplify complex financial concepts and challenge assumptions constructively.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, analytics or related fields, or equivalent experience.

Additional Information

Preferred sectors include manufacturing, distribution, building products, consumer durables, wholesale, or large-box retail, though specific industry experience is less critical than relevant mandate expertise. The position is based onsite in Irving, Texas. Please note, American Bath Group does not offer employment visa sponsorship now or in the future for this role.

Why Join?

This role offers significant autonomy and influence, working directly with senior stakeholders to establish meaningful, trusted reporting and analytical capabilities that will support critical retail decision-making and business growth.
