Role and Responsibilities
As a Senior Financial Accountant within the Accounting team, you will autonomously manage project, construction, and financial accounting of selected companies. You will serve as the central commercial interface among Accounting, Project Management, and the Finance leadership.
- Manage independently the project, property, and financial accounting for selected entities, particularly within the construction and real estate sectors.
- Oversee ongoing financial accounting, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Review, code, and record complex transactions, especially related to construction, project, and development costs.
- Reconcile, maintain, and analyze accounts on a project and company basis.
- Prepare, control, monitor, and analyze project budgets in close coordination with Controlling and Project Management.
- Continuously monitor project costs and conduct variance analysis between planned and actual figures.
- Analyze budget and cost deviations, identifying financial risks and opportunities for optimization.
- Generate accounting- and project-specific financial, project, and cash flow reports for the CFO, executive management, and project leads.
- Lead participation in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings in accordance with HGB standards.
- Ensure accurate handling of construction and project accounting, including provisions, accruals, and capitalization of construction and production costs.
- Prepare and quality-check all documentation for tax consultants, auditors, and external partners.
- Coordinate on balance sheet, valuation, and closing issues with the Head of Accounting and CFO.
- Ensure compliance with commercial and tax law requirements as well as internal policies, processes, and compliance standards.
- Document thoroughly all accounting, project-related, and closing-specific activities.
- Support and assist during financial and tax audits in collaboration with Head of Accounting as needed.
- Collaborate closely with project managers as the commercial contact for project-related inquiries.
- Act as a discussion partner for the Head of Accounting and CFO on project-, cost-, and closing-related matters.
- Contribute actively to the improvement, optimization, and standardization of accounting, project, and closing processes.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completed degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Real Estate, or a similar qualification.
- Several years of substantial professional experience in accounting or project controlling in a leadership role, preferably within the real estate sector, with strong knowledge in real estate financing and project cost accounting.
- Proven senior-level expertise with financing models and project-related budgeting and cost control.
- Proficient use of MS Office, especially Excel, and extensive experience with accounting/ERP systems.
- Knowledge of DATEV is an advantage.
- Excellent written and spoken German and good English skills.
- Strong analytical ability, affinity for numbers, and a structured, detail-focused work approach.
- Excellent communication skills, leadership qualities, and a high degree of initiative.
- Analytical, target-driven mindset and a self-reliant, results-oriented working style with capability to guide and mentor junior team members.
