Overview

This opportunity is shared on behalf of a partner organisation, which handles the application process and all follow-up steps. The hiring company is seeking a Senior Finance Business Partner located in Australia.

This is a senior commercial finance position with significant influence over strategy and performance in a fast-changing insurance setting. You will work closely with senior leaders, helping shape financial direction, improve decision-making, and support results across a major consumer division. The role combines strategic advisory work, financial planning, and hands-on business partnering. It calls for strong analytical ability, excellent stakeholder management, and the confidence to turn complex financial information into practical recommendations for executives. You will collaborate across finance and business teams in a highly visible role where your input will affect productivity, investment choices, and overall business outcomes.

Key accountabilities

  • Serve as a dependable advisor to senior leaders by providing financial analysis and strategic recommendations that support performance across the consumer division.
  • Own divisional finance activities from end to end, including forecasting, planning, and performance review, while ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery.
  • Convert detailed financial information into concise, executive-level insights that inform strategic and operational decisions.
  • Contribute to productivity and transformation initiatives by identifying opportunities to strengthen financial outcomes and business efficiency.
  • Work with cross-functional finance partners in an agile environment to build and implement solutions that meet business needs.
  • Lead, support, and develop team members to foster a collaborative, high-performing finance team.
  • Help senior stakeholders assess financial risks, opportunities, and investment decisions connected to key business initiatives.

Requirements

  • A degree or tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, or a related field is required, with CA, CPA, or an equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Broad experience in finance business partnering, ideally in Sales & Distribution, Underwriting, or General Insurance.
  • Strong capability in financial planning, forecasting, performance management, and financial control processes.
  • Proven skill in interpreting complex financial data and turning it into clear, practical business recommendations.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to influence senior executives and cross-functional leaders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify technical finance concepts for executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, and building strong teams.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation package matched to experience and seniority.
  • Flexible work arrangements, with hybrid and remote options where appropriate.
  • Extensive health, life, and wellbeing insurance coverage.
  • Access to major learning and development resources, including more than 10,000 courses and programs.
  • Financial wellbeing support such as superannuation contributions, salary sacrifice options, and insurance discounts.
  • Employee Share Purchase Program for those who want to participate in equity ownership.
  • Discounts on retail, travel, and lifestyle purchases through a broad partner network.
  • An inclusive and supportive culture that values flexibility, growth, and work-life balance.

How the process works

The application is reviewed through an AI-supported matching process that is designed to assess candidates quickly, fairly, and objectively against the role’s core needs. The shortlist is then passed to the hiring company, whose internal team manages interviews, assessments, and final decisions.
