Role overview
Rockwell is expanding rapidly in Ireland and is seeking an experienced M&E Estimator to join its Cork office. This role suits someone ready to advance their career within a forward-moving engineering business.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare estimates for projects ranging from smaller works to large-scale assignments across multiple sectors.
- Handle the tender process end-to-end, from initial review through to final submission and completion.
- Maintain regular communication with the relevant stakeholders throughout the bidding process.
- Work closely with Directors and Project Managers to support bid opportunities.
- Take part in pre-tender and post-tender interviews.
- Collect and compare subcontractor quotations, checking that they meet specification requirements.
- Join internal and client-facing meetings whenever needed.
- Carry out quantity take-offs from tender drawings.
- Track project variations and share prompt updates with Project Managers.
- Support project reporting and monthly claim management.
Essential experience and skills
- A degree or trade background in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required.
- At least 3 years' experience in an estimating position, ideally on high-value projects.
- Experience in pharmaceutical projects would be a strong advantage.
- Background in design and build work is beneficial, as is experience in live operational environments.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, clients, and external partners.
- Well-developed organisational and planning abilities.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office tools is essential.
- Experience with estimating platforms such as Total Estimating or comparable software is preferred.
- A genuine interest in ongoing learning and professional development.
