Senior Estimator

Role Overview

Our client, a well-established construction contractor known for successfully delivering a wide range of building and civil engineering projects, is looking to expand their team with an experienced Senior Estimator based in County Mayo. This is a full-time permanent position focusing on producing accurate and commercially viable project estimates.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop technically and commercially robust estimates and tender documents.
• Price building and civil engineering projects from the initial enquiry phase through to bid submission.
• Collaborate closely with Quantity Surveyors, procurement teams, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders.
• Create strategic approaches to estimating and tendering processes.
• Utilize estimating software and Microsoft Excel to generate precise and efficient tenders.
• Offer value engineering insights and propose cost-effective solutions.
• Evaluate modern construction methods in comparison to traditional techniques.
• Stay informed on current construction practices, building regulations, legal requirements, and relevant industry standards.
• Champion continuous improvement and innovative methods within the estimating department.
• Prepare successful tender submissions and ensure smooth project handovers to the project delivery team.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven experience in a construction estimating role, preferably with a main contractor.
• Comprehensive knowledge of building and civil engineering construction disciplines.
• Strong commercial awareness combined with excellent analytical ability and meticulous attention to detail.
• Experience estimating diverse project types, including residential, commercial, industrial, and educational sectors.
• Sound understanding of construction methodologies, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight tender submission deadlines.
