About the Role
We are inviting applications for an Estimator to join our UK Construction team. This position is predominantly onsite with a hybrid working arrangement from one of our offices in Solihull, St Albans, or Warrington. We encourage candidates from Tier 1, Regional, and Subcontracting firms to apply. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Log and manage tender documents, addendums, and correspondence, distributing them to relevant team members.
- Develop subcontractor enquiry schedules with tender and procurement team inputs.
- Issue subcontractor enquiries specifying scope and attendance schedules when necessary.
- Conduct market benchmarking to analyze competitive levels.
- Coordinate bills of quantities and perform quality checks on measurements and descriptions.
- Manage records of delivered materials including concrete, reinforcement, and structural products.
- Assist in setting up site facilities such as hoardings and accommodations.
- Perform snagging and de-snagging activities before project handover.
- Promote safe working methods by reviewing subcontractor safety plans and preparing method statements.
- Support personal skill development and mentor colleagues through knowledge sharing.
- Maintain enquiry schedules and follow up on outstanding tender returns.
- Raise and address tender-related queries efficiently.
- Review tender designs to identify potential value engineering savings.
- Document clarifications and estimator notes securely for records.
- Integrate late tender modifications into submission packages.
- Contribute to preparation of tender risk and opportunity assessments.
- Assist in preparing value engineering schedules.
- Issue material enquiries and evaluate supplier responses.
Tendering and Cost Analysis
- Analyze tender package returns and prepare subcontractor analysis schedules to aid adjudication.
- Evaluate package requirements for fixed pricing and contingency allowances for tender settlement.
- Compile clear net cost documents highlighting risks and opportunities for settlement preparation.
- Complete tender sum analyses, including cash flow and forecasting for approval processes.
- Participate in adjudication meetings and make required amendments.
- Prepare client tender pricing documents such as forms of tender, contract sum breakdowns, and preliminary costs.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Strong understanding of estimating methodologies and experience using Conquest or similar software.
- Familiarity with various construction procurement routes.
- Good working knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Preferably five years of site-based experience.
- Current awareness of construction processes, materials, and cost management.
- Degree qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent practical experience.
- Valid CSCS card is mandatory.
